Pathfinders Childcare Limited has been providing bespoke residential placements since September 2001.

The Company was originally set up by a committed and highly qualified professional Social Worker who had a wealth of experience in Residential Care and wanted to make a real difference to the lives of young people who were looked after.

Pathfinders Childcare is well established, growing residential childcare provider located in semi-rural areas in the North-West.
We have five homes at present which Ofsted have recognised as having many outstanding features which reflect our commitment to providing excellent care to vulnerable and needy young people and an ability to deliver on our promises to our customers.

Historically, the large amount of red tape and bureaucracy, as well as the lack of specialised supportive homes often meant that a poor standard of practice was being offered to meet the highly complex needs, of some of the country’s most difficult to place, alienated and unusually complex young people.

These young people aged between 8 and 17 were generally viewed as un-placeable, unworkable and for the majority, other professionals just didn’t know what to do with.

Young People had often suffered high levels of abuse as well as experiencing multi placement breakdowns. Their behaviours would often pose a risk to themselves as well as others but would often leave them extremely vulnerable within their communities. Some also had additional disabilities and diagnosis which further reduced their life chances.

Children and young people placed in our care have often suffered severe trauma in their young lives, which has left them often angry, let down and very distrustful of adults, which is then displayed through anti-social and negative self-harming behaviours
Pathfinders believe that being placed within the right homes all young people who are looked after have the ability to change, make better choices and develop their self-esteem and confidence which in turn will enable them to live happy and successful lives.
